Antesa Jensen had an intense childhood filled with disability, dysfunction, neglect, and near-death experiences. Travel became an escape for her, away for her to get as far away from reality as possible. She found herself traveling to riskier and riskier places, seeking more intense external experiences. Little did she know that a life-threatening situation in South America, and a bout of severe illness, would be the start of an inward journey.
At the time, Antesa was a high-performing professional in an investment bank in Denmark. However, she returned from South America feeling lost, emotionally volatile, and messy. She had been seeking something through her travels, but for what she had no idea. Her frustration led her to sign up for a coaching program, which she enjoyed, and even excelled at. She realized that her disability growing up, where she was legally blind until she received Lasik surgery at 26, not only heightened her non- visual senses, but also enhanced her perceptions about people. She developed a deep sense of empathy, and was often able to hear what people were feeling.
Inspired by her own inward journey and her natural strength in guiding others, Antesa set out to help individuals make transformational and sustainable change in life. Adventure Awake was born in 2016 to guide high-performing individuals to realize their leadership potential through outward expeditions, while discovering themselves on their inward journey.
Through Adventure Awake programs, we give you access to presence, joy, empathy, and compassion – key habits of successful leaders. We help you reclaim those parts of yourself by surrounding you with community, collaboration, and immersive experiences. We then provide the space for you to debrief those experiences and a framework to integrate them into your daily life.
The ripple created through Adventure Awake alumni is large. They go out into the world as enormous influencers. They lead their organizations in large companies more effectively. Their work and personal relationships are stronger. They share what they have learned with others and help them design their lives according to their desire.
Doing our deepest transformational work in the company of others who are on their own journeys, allows for a powerful experience. Our programs are customized to the needs of each individual or organization, and all while ensuring that we are always getting the reflection necessary for true growth to happen.
Unlike in a traditional classroom, where course content is designed by a teacher, and a student is tasked with absorbing information, our programs are about partnership. Our coaches will partner with you to identify your or your organization’s inherent strengths. We are not here to change you, nor to make you like us. We're here to partner in unfolding you into your best self and organization. Our incredibly diverse backgrounds make it possible for us to meet you wherever you are on that journey, and to work with you on being a leader in your own domain, both personally and professionally.
Adventure Awake programs utilize many less tangible experiences such as guided meditations, writing exercises, and other simulated experiences that are designed to help you and your organization break through your biggest blocks so that you can step fully into yourselves. It is through the combination of these elements that we expand both emotional and somatic intelligence.
Coaching is by and large the most important element of Adventure Awake programs. Unlike in a traditional classroom, small-
group coaching allows for calibrated, individualized attention that positions you to expand rapidly into an emotionally brilliant andwell-balanced human being.
Are you interested in experiencing an intensive transformational expedition for yourself? We work with both individuals and groups on defining what their transformation looks like.
While each expedition is entirely different, and experiences vary greatly depending on the client(s) and the country we're visiting, the basic framework involves pre-trip coaching to establish rapport, a co-created plan for a 10-12 day in-person adventure, and post-trip coaching to ensure integration of the whole experience.
Full programs vary in duration and can be anywhere from 3-12 months.
